I am thinking of a trip to the USA & UK with my children and would like to take my maid with us as we'd otherwise be travelling with no other adult, plus our lovely maid is very much part of the family.
She is filipino and has worked for us here in Dubai for 4 years. We are British nationals.
Any tips on if this is possible and if so how to go about arranging visas?

We have friends who take their Filipina nanny to the US every summer. Apparently you have to book an appointment on the US consulate website and then have an interview there so def plan well ahead. The main thing is to demonstrate her ties to the UAE and also bear in mind that you MUST pay her the US minimum wage while she is there, which is considerably higher than the UAE; they will also ask both you and her about that when you apply.

The US has been tightening up visit visa requirements rather severely and there's very little chance you will get a visit visa for your maid to the US. It's possible, but probably not worth the effort. We looked into taking our maid home with us last summer but at the end of the day I decided I didn't want to deal with the visa process AND have to worry about her absconding while in the States (she is a wonderful maid, by the way, but when you take a maid to the US or the UK there's no telling what they might to in the land of "golden opportunities").
