But this is not unusual in Bahrain, they have regular protests and the government react in the same way each time.... F1 is a month away, so although i have heard this in the press, am not sure it will be affect as i really can't see the protests in Bahrain being allowed to last more than this weekend.... and to be honest, the ring leaders will have been / or will be in the process of being rounded up and will be in jail by Sunday morning... No Izzy this is a big one, these are not the little uprisings they have had previously, this is serious stuff that has been planned and prepared for. Lots will be in jail or dead but this has been brewing for years. F1 is in doubt.

Appears the goverment have stopped playing around and come down hard, many injured and if they keep this death rate up their won't be anyone left to protest. Some really tragic cases, one of which was the head trauma surgeon at SMH, is now in intensive care, no paramedics being allowed to treat or transport injured. Grand Prix has a big question mark hanging over it as to whether will go ahead and Friday after prayers more forcast. A mess.

Yeah, I hope so! Friends in Bahrain don't seem so worried, for the moment. Uncle is in bahrain (been there 40 years) and he's not worried. We lived in Bahrain for years and there was always trouble..been caught up in riots with tear gas, sister's school bus overturned etc etc. All normal there..but here...hmm?? We used to live there too, but only for a year... we once drove through one of their mini riots in the street. They were throwing fire balls and were wearing balaclavas! It freaked me out but they just ignored the cars and kept throwing these fire balls at their enemies.

But who would protest in UAE? I mean, really? Well paid expats won't say anything because they've got a great deal and are just riding it out. Poorly paid expats will shut up because there are millions more in their countries who are waiting to get on the planes and come and take their jobs. Most people here have too much at risk to protest for something they'll never win. If the stateless people protest they'll be told what they've been told for years 'no one told you to make this your home, you assumed wrong'. And they'll be in a worse position because now they've made an enemy. Exactly, want to continue the lifestyle then think hard, want to get rid of all the expats then be prepared for what that will bring.

There were whispers of a future uprising and being on high alert from Bahraini's but expats always said " never here" My point being you never know everything that is festering Expats who have lived in BAH know exactly what its all about and it will come its never been a secret, its all to do with the PM. I should have added that they were all there less than 2 years. I just come across a vast mentality of "nothing will ever happen here" in the gulf region. I could see that for short term expats just popping in and out but for longer term ones who actually mixed with the nationals and bothered to understand the politics etc its been on the books for a while. But in BAH expats are very safe, unless you trundel down into some of the really rural villiages you will not be involved.
