do you find that the smell of it lingers? I have rinsed it several more times that it says in the literature... now I am beginning to wonder why I had the bright idea of doing this as I only use bottled water anyway.....

Update! It tasted great as usual and I did flush with 3 tanks as opposed to the 1 in the instructions. The instructions explain and the cleaner is the Nespresso one btw. Thanks all. I am still here :D

We descaled our machine recently. We've had the machine for 5 years and all of a sudden the coffee started tasting awful and burnt. After descaling it, you have to run 2-3 empty tanks through the machine, I am not sure you did that. The first coffee after was very nice.

I have never descaled our Nespresso machine in the 2 years we have had it. Every time after we finish using it (say we make 2 coffees etc), I get rid of the last pod - let it drop through the machine - and then just flush the machine through with water by doing a small coffee cycle thingy so it drips though clear water. That way it washes out the machine and we have never had to put chemicals though the coffee machine. Hope that explanation makes sense... Oh yeah... and we only use bottled water too. edited by SJAussie on 19/03/2011
