My carpet "guy" is Rashad at Sheba Carpets in the Sharjah Blue Souq - He has a wide variety of Persian, Afghan, Caucasian, Kilms, Shiraz etc. etc. etc. It is always a pleasure to visit his shop and the shop attendants are very good.

Go to the carpet festival at the airport convention centre just past terminal 3. So many carpets and can really barter.

I bought some carpets from a man who comes to your place and show you the carpets at home. He´s got a nice selection and good prices. you just give him a call and explain him what you want. if you are interested, send me an email and I will send you his phone number e m e j o t a s a t g m a i l d o t c o m

I third the Blue Souk in Sharjah, but the place on Al Wasl Road sounds interesting - where abouts Clare?

I actually think Dubai is a great place to buy carpet, I usually buy from The Orientalist Woven Art on Al Wasl rd. They are the only carpet gallery that don't "you buy you buy I give you good price" and get up in your face. I have found the price's reasonable, I went to the gallery when we came to Dubai as we used to go to their Singaporean showroom.
