Too true! :) @ bornconfused - could be wrong, but I don't think she's the brightest spark... :D No don't think she is.. Add alcohol and wham you have a complete embarrassing show at the Superbowl..

I think she was concentrating too hard on trying to sing better than others who have performed and messed up the words. It seems every time someone sings the Anthem they are trying to do better than everyone before them. <em>edited by RubyRed on 07/02/2011</em>

I'm sorry but if your an American, and your a famous singer signed on for singing the National Anthem for a big televised game you should know the Anthem. You should have learned it in school. It should be etched in your brain. Maybe if she would stop her late night drinking and drug activities, she would have actually remembered the words.

i'd be petrified...am amazed these ppl can sing at all in these situations.. a man was given a part in a play - he had to walk on to the stage and say "it is". For weeks he practiced different intonations and accents until finally his big night arrived..waiting in the wings he paced the floor repeating over and over, it is, IT is, it IS !... his time came, he marched onto the stage and in a big loud voice he announced.... "is it ?" can happen to anyone - give her a break... :)

See I reckon they all know it (**** even I know all the words) but the enormity of performing such an important anthem at such an important event just makes them choke. Can you imagine standing up there- all eyes on you- and your brain saying over and over in your head "don't scr*w it up, don;t scr*w it up!!!" And inevidently you scr*w it up!!!! :D
