For a long time I was on Mycrogynon with no problem - after LO was born, and not planning to have number 2 yet.
Due to various health reason, doctor has now prescribed me to take YASMIN.

1) it's 3 times the price of Mycrogynon
2) I am having mixed reports upon searching this on google.

I would like to have EW ladies to give their input on this and what are the pros and cons you have experienced so far by taking this.

Is there an alternative to Yasmin?

Had an awful time on Yasmin, period all over the place... severe headaches, moodiness, anxious, water retention etc. Would not reccomend it at all. Im not even on the pill anymore ...yasmin put me off hormonal contraceptives for life ! Now Im off it I feel at peace (that sounds strange) but I was so anxious and crazy on Yasmin .... poor OH thought I was possessed he he.

I got put on Yasmine after they stopped selling Microgynon here as people were using iit for the wrong reasons. Yasmine gave me awful headaches and i felt so sick all the time i went on to Logynon, same brand as Mictogynon and the same price. Thought i was great on it but it killed my s** drive and my hormone levels dropped sooo low when I went to the gynae last month. Have now come off it. Really you need to go and see a gynae and get some blood tests first and get the one that best suits you. Remember that some pills are not appropriate if you smoke or have high blood pressure etc, you can just ask what other people take. There is a great gynae at Emirates Hospital. Good luck

I took it for a year and ended up with such severe migraines they thought I was having a stroke, once I stopped taking yasmin I havent had one, it has been 3 months now, I was getting them 2 times a week!! I was also so moody, had alot of fluid retention and my periods were all over the place. But that was just my body, may be different for you.

All the doctors said it was great....It drove me MADDDDDD! My hormones were all over the place and I had a lot of water retention. It was so bad that I had to stop right in the middle of it. My doctor told me I was imagining things, but I had another friend who felt the same way when using it..But if there are good reviews from some, then I guess its different bodies different results. <em>edited by carpediem on 23/03/2011</em>
