Hello. I would like any information or knowledge about maternity leave for the private sector. I have contact the ministry who have stated that I'm allowed 45 days maternity leave pre or post natal. 8 months after conceiving.
However, my employer says that because I'm in the educational sector, I can only take leave after delivery. I'm due the 22nd June and our Summer break starts 28th June.
She asks why would I want to take time before, when I have the Summer holiday anyway? And that it would take away my Summer pay.

Can anyone shed any light on the matter?

1. Is the law different for the Educational Sector?
2. Would my maternity leave affect my Summer pay?

I'm very sad and upset. Ready to fly home.

Sarah
