DD was found to have nits at school by the school nurse. I was aware of the problem, I cleared her up on school holidays, but she got it back as soon as school started.
School policy is she can't go back until all the nits are taken out (the white eggs that stick to the hair). She has really thick hair and she is reallllly impatient. I gave her medicated treatment, which should kill all lice and the eggs but it DOES NOT take the eggs out. The school won't accept that. I told the school 10 times the eggs should be dead because I used medicated shampoo. They just won't accept that. If I continue to do this, she might miss out one week of school.
I also left conditioner on her hair for 2-3 hours and brushed it with a nit comb for half an hour in the shower but the eggs are still there...
Please help me. I don't want to shave her head.

rinse her hair in vinegar and then comb out the egg with a nit comb. The vinegar makes the hair very smooth and shiny, so the eggs can't stick. It stinks to high heaven, but it works.... or at least did for me as a child when I had hair down to my thighs! To try and stop this recurring, try and pin her hair up, or tie it back. Thanks for the tip. It's driving me mad...Where can I get a good nit comb? I have those plastic ones, but I don't think it takes any nits out. Where can I get a metal nit comb? I have no idea! A pharmacy? The metal ones are better, but the plastic ones should work just fine too, tbh.
