Thanks lemon drops & hello kitty! I will try these exercisev& hopefully, it will work for me as my tummy looks big still! :-( will search the net to know this exercise as I havent done it yet. Is it similar to sit ups?
The concern that the abdominal muscles may not have joined back together is normally valid for a vaginal delivery not a c section as these muscles are stitched back together in the surgery. 6 months is more than enough time for you to get back to abdominal exercises, although I agree with Hello Kitty that the best exercises to get a flat tummy are core exercises which strengthen the back, abdomen and pelvis. These exercises include reverse crunches, the plank, the bridge, the superman, bank extensions, etc. Abdominal crunches are considered core exercises but their impact is limited to a few sets of muscles in the abdomen. To get the best results it's important to mix them with other core exercises. HTH
yes, sit-ups aren't advised as a post-pg exercise, because you abs may not have joined back and so you'd be bulking them out towards the sides. The best post-partum exercises (which will flatten your tummy muscles, even though they may still be hiding under some extra (normal) fat and stretched skin is CORE MUSCLE exercises, especially pelvic floor. You'll find that these will strengthen your tummy muscles and also improve posture. All good.
It depends on your tummy muscles and whether they have closed and joined in the middle again. I was advized to do small little movements until then. Not that ive been doing them ;-) you basically push with your palm of your hand against your alternating knee while lying on your back and your feet placed flat on the ground with knees bent.
Hope I've made sense.
how many weeks/months after c-section you started to have proper exercise such as sit-ups to flatten tummy? My baby is now 6 months, is it fine now to have sit-ups?
