The changes will begin from November 25 and will continue until February 2021.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) revealed that it would rename five Dubai Metro stations, namely changing 'First Abu Dhabi Bank' to 'Umm Al Sheef', 'Noor Bank' to 'Al Safa', 'Damac' to 'Dubai Marina', 'Nakheel' to 'Al Khail', and 'Al Fahidi' to 'Sharaf DG'.

Residents who have lived in Dubai and have used the trains are familiar with the frequent station name changes along the metro line.

Metro stations in Dubai typically receive its name based on the location, or are named by a sponsor.

Effective from Wednesday, November 25, the above-mentioned metro stations will be updated with its new name including changes to the external signs, smart systems, and rerecording of the announcement voices within the metro.

RTA signed an agreement granting Sharaf Group the naming rights of the ex-Al Fahidi metro station along the green line. Previously, the metro line had a Sharaf DG metro station along the red line, now occupied by the current First Abu Dhabi Bank metro station.

Major General Sharaf Udeen Sharaf Al Hashmi, Vice-President of the Group, said that Dubai Metro had become a leading public transit mode in the region serving millions of riders in Dubai, and playing a key role in integrating with other mass transit means.

“The partnership between Sharaf Group and RTA is an example of the fruitful cooperation towards contributing to the advancement and prosperity of the UAE in general and Dubai in particular," he added.
