Dubai ranked as the world's cleanest city news

Dubai has been named as the world's cleanest city for the fifth time, and for a population of 3.83 million, that's quite a feat!

The Dubai Media Office announced the achievement on their X page (formerly Twitter) on Monday. In a recent report from the Global Power City Index (GPCI) issued by the Institute for Urban Strategies at the Mori Memorial Foundation in Japan, the emirate outperformed over 47 cities around the world with a 100% satisfaction score in city cleanliness.

"Dubai ranks 1st as the world’s cleanest city for the fifth consecutive year according to Global Power City Index (GPCI) issued by the Institute for Urban Strategies at the Mori Memorial Foundation in Japan," posted the Dubai Media Office.

This ranking showcases the Dubai Municipality's ongoing initiatives to promote waste management in the city, along with the efforts of the entire community working together to keep our streets and spaces pristine.

In November 2024, the Dubai Municipality had planted over 2.5 million flowers and plants across the emirate in a bid to make it a greener place to live.

Being named as the cleanest city worldwide also reflects the Dubai Integrated Waste Management Strategy 2041, dedicated to reducing waste production in the city by 18% and meet the target of 100% diversion of waste from landfills by the year 2041.

Dubai Municipality also manages a year-round cleanliness and sustainability system across the emirate, thanks to a fleet of 855 cleaning machinery and equipment, and over 3,200 municipality team members who work hard to keep the city clean and safe for those living in and visiting Dubai.
