If for whatever reason you’re unable to fly to Paris to hang a love lock, don’t despair. Now thanks to Meraas – the people behind La Mer, The Beach JBR and the Bluewaters Island – you don’t have to travel any further than Dubai.

A new destination called ‘The Yard’ has been unveiled this week, and it’s a 350,000 square-foot extension that adds to the existing Last Exit D89 in the Al Khawaneej area of the city, which is close to Mushrif Park.

Dubai’s very own ‘love locks bridge’

Besides your typical new restaurants, shops and green areas – The Yard comes complete with Dubai’s very own ‘Promise Bridge’ – or more popularly known as, a love locks bridge.

An ode to the original Ponts des Artes bridge in France’s capital city, Dubai’s love locks bridge is a new place where people can make symbolic pledges to their loved ones by attaching padlocks to the bridge with their names or initials on.

What else is at The Yard in Dubai?

This new Dubai attraction is also home to a rustic courtyard, a farmer’s market, a bakery, lake and even shaded walking trails to enjoy on a weekend afternoon.

Not to mention an 18-metre tall windmill, as well as a wishing well, farm animals and lots of street art murals.

The Yard offers something unique to UAE residents, and its laid-back atmosphere and picturesque spots is the perfect Insta-worthy location. It also has two pedestrian bridges, and landscaped picnic area – so it’s most definitely worth a weekend trip.

Perhaps the best part of it all – there’s plenty of free parking.

The Yard was initially launched in 2017 during its initial phase with Last Exit D89, but this extension will eventually grow into a 2.8 million square-foot urban destination.

Nouf AlMheiri, Architect at Meraas, said: “The Yard reflects Meraas’s strong commitment to create imaginative and exciting family-friendly destinations that provide opportunities for Dubai’s residents and visitors to share unforgettable experiences.

“In line with our vision of connecting communities through the many sectors that we operate in, the destination’s offerings seek to enhance people’s happiness and sense of belonging.”

We know where we’re heading this month!
