All About Sharekni: The Carpooling App

Sharekni is a carpooling application that was launched in Dubai to help users find a shared car they can use to commute together to save costs of travel.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) have launched Sharekni, the smart app that allows users to find other riders to share vehicles while travelling from and to their workplaces, in an effort to reduce traffic congestion on the roads.

Carpooling in Dubai

The word Sharekni is an Arabic word meaning "share with me", and everyone is encouraged to carpool through the Sharekni system.

Through this service, the RTA is seeking to ease traffic congestion in Dubai, especially during peak times, reduce the number of single occupancy vehicles and reduce the overall number of vehicles on the streets.

  2. Enter the relevant and correct contact details, including email ID, contact number and a personal photo of yourself. Also create a username and password for your Sharekni account.

  4. The registration procedure is to be continued, and you will need to share your personal details, location and driver details.

Carpooling is restricted to two round trips daily for the people registered to the car. Users can share petrol costs.

RTA warns users that the app must not be used as a moneymaking tool. Cash exchange is not allowed between passengers and the car owner; however, the car owner may be compensated by paying the gas price.
