Mark your calendars!
This year, the UAE will mark its 50th National Day with a four-day weekend packed with celebrations at the Hatta Dam.
The official ceremony honouring the UAE's 50th anniversary will take place on Thursday December 2 at 5:30 PM, announced the nation's Golden Jubilee Celebrations Committee.
Celebrations will open to the public from December 4 to December 12, and tickets must be purchased beforehand.
You can expect a floating live theatrical show, which will also be broadcasted on all local TV channels as well as the UAE National Day official website for everyone to see. So if you can't make it to the live event, don't worry!
Through creative story-telling, the show will "highlight the deep connections between people, nature and technology," said Shaikha Al Ketbi, Head of Creative Strategy of the Year of the 50th.
"Staged in Hatta Dam and surrounded by the Hajar mountains, the floating theatrical experience will take viewers on a journey through the land's history in the lead up to the inception of the union and across the 50 years that followed," Al Ketbi added.
Tickets to the official UAE National Day celebrations at Hatta are available online from UAENationalDay.ae for AED 300 each.
Year of the 50th
2021 was declared as 'The Year of the 50th' by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to commemorate 50 years since the country was founded in 1971.
From April 6th, 2021 to March 31st, 2022, the Golden Jubilee celebrations coincides with Dubai Expo 2020.
The celebration is an investment in people-building first – using this inflection point to celebrate our remarkable journey over the last 50 years and begin preparing our nation for the transformative change that lies ahead in the next 50.
