RTA Cuts Down Nol Card Refunds to 8 Days

The slashed refund waiting time is effective immediately

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that they have reduced the nol card refund period to 8 days instead of 14 days.

"As part of efforts to improve the level of services provided to the public, RTA has managed to reduce the time of refunding balances of activated nol cards and tickets through automating the process,” said Mohammed Al Khayyat, Director of Automated Fare Collection Systems, Corporate Technology Support Services Sector for the RTA.

RTA passengers who hold nol cards or tickets can refund their remaining balance instantly at the ticket vending offices located in any Dubai metro station.

For cards that are damaged or are defective, refunds will be through the RTA website, RTA Dubai app, and self-service kiosks. There are further plans to improve customer service by cutting down the refund period to three days by 2020.

"The improvement is part of RTA’s efforts to make Dubai the smartest and happiest city in the world. This ongoing process requires aligning our efforts with the Government’s smart drive through capitalising on the use of sophisticated technologies and innovation," Al Khayyat added.

RTA has also expanded the use of nol cards in Dubai beyond paying for public transport. Nol cards can be used to pay for refueling gas at EPPCO and ENOC stations, entry fees of public parks and the Etihad Museum, pay public parking fees, purchase at selected shopping outlets such as Zoom and Carrefour, and it's usable in paying fees at any RTA customer's happiness centre.
