Hi

I was just wondering if anybody has any information on drivers in Doha, how much they charge etc? I was looking for a driver to take my daughter to school at the Compass International Madinat and take me to work, then pick us both between 1.30 - 2pm and return to Mirage Compound in the Soudan area.

Any information would be appreciated

Kind regards
Julie

We have a driver to take the kids to school as there's no bus service. I have been driving them this past month as I finally have a car but we have decided to go back to having a driver as it was getting too much with the youngest going to a separate nursery etc. So yes you should be able to hire a driver on a monthly basis. Call some of the companies listed in the posts below or ask the school's security if they know of someone. Hope that helps

Oh dear, sorry ladies, you can tell this is my first few days on a forum! Apologies if some random empty text boxes with my user name have appeared. Julie, I'm asking the same questions also, please let me know if you hear anything! I can't have a driver live-in though. Good luck with your search and thank you ladies for the helpful replies! Many thanks!

List of registered, legal transport/taxi services in Qatar: http://www.carsindoha.com/taxis.php I use Al Afdhal to take me and my son to his soccer practices twice a week from Muntazah to Doha College. One way costs me 35 qr and they're professional and know their way around. They drive brand new honda accords. I recommend them.

Thanks for the information below. How far away from the school do you live? The nursery where I'm going to be working is not far from our compound, so he might be able to drop me off then take my daughter onto school? Which company do you use? Kind regards Julie

We pay QR 80/day for my son to go from West Bay to ASD. It's double what the bus costs, but this way he leaves almost an hour later in the morning, and depending on what he has going on after school can arrange the pick-up time accordingly. Is your work close to the school? If so, you are probably going to look at a similar rate. I have friends who hired a houseboy/driver instead of a female maid. He did most of the cleaning and ironing, and also dropped the kids at school and took the wife where she needed to go during the day. He lived in the maid's room -- I think he was sponsored by the husband's work.
