someone was looking for the above.

The Philips store on al dhiyafa street (in between Beach and Al Wasl roads) has them on 20% discount. They had the artisan and the heavy duty models - also the attachments for Mincing, pasta and corign apples (it think) but didn't ask if they were on sale.

I read somewhere that the inner gears of the KA are plastic now when they were steel before (someone correct me?) and therefore not as sturdy. Kenwood still has steel gears, if I'm not mistaken. That's right. KA used to be made by Hobart (the hotel kitchen standard) but no longer, and the quality has deteriorated. I bought my Kenwood in last year's DSF :0) Its coffee/spice grinder is AMAZING. Million times better than dinky Moulinex coffee grinder I normally use for grinding up whole spices.

I understand that Kitchen Aid used to be the choice of catering professionals (had them in the kitchen i worked in) but understand that they have recently been bought out and now the quality is not what it used to be - have become mass marketed. To be honest, i only went it to that store the other day as i remember someone asking and i was walking past - the KA dont have a slot where a blitzer / coffee grinder will fit - but the kenwoods do - so in theory, your Kenwood will be able to do everything you need. If you bake a lot, should also look at getting the plastic / porcelain bowls as the stainless steel ones can colour certain food types. Thanks for the heads up, Izzy! Kenwood it is then. :)

My mum still has her kenwood - it's been going for close to 40 years now.... TBH, it's really for the vanity factor. I've been lusting after a KA for a while now! Seeing them on every cooking show is hypnotizing... But I've heard nothing but good things about the Kenwood. I read somewhere that the inner gears of the KA are plastic now when they were steel before (someone correct me?) and therefore not as sturdy. Kenwood still has steel gears, if I'm not mistaken. But I'm a fanatic baker and therefore will be using it a lot, several times a day. So yeah, I think I really ought to go with a Kenwood. Just why couldn't they be prettier? Haha. :P

What's so special about Kitchen Aid? I really wanted one at some point and then did some research on the machine. Its only 300W whereas the Kenwood Major is 1400W so in terms of power at least the Kenwood has more. I also find that the Kenwood has so many more features and uses - like the liquidiser and coffee grinder, pasta attachment, centrifugal juicer, and sausage maker so why opt for a machine that has such low power output? Actually, I'm still researching it. I found the number, btw (04 3453 633) they're the AlGhandi Electronics. The 5 quart (4.83 litre) KA Artisan is on sale. Was 2367aed and now 1890aed. 300 watts really is rather low, you're right. I can't see how it's going to be able to knead bread though over 1800 people on Amazon seem to review/vote for it in high regards (4.5 stars out of 5). For 1900aed, though, perhaps it's better to be safe and go for a Kenwood? Argh, I'm so torn!

the @ home stores and lafayette has them too, and theres a shop in wafi upstairs that has them too (can't remember the name), but don't know if they're on sale these days. you should check out all the shops, because they all have different prices, some have lower rates without sale.
