I've stayed at both for the race. I liked City hotel better, it's a stone's throw from finishing line, so awesome for a post-race shower, nap. We got takeaway pizzas for our dinner from the pizza place behind Centerpoint, quite good!
I just booked the night at the RAK Hilton (close to the marathon starting point) for $100 through Hotel Club. The City Hotel is closer, but I didn't check it out. Good luck! :)
I'm also interested in this as I just signed up two hours before they closed registration so haven't looked into hotels at all.
We just want something clean and cheap so not any of the resort hotels. We'll get there Thursday evening and leave long before breakfast so pointless to splash out on a nice hotel.
