A friend of mine went and used credit card - whereupon the bank cancelled it as suspected fraudulent activity (apparently SL is deemed high risk). Despite telling said bank that yes am in SL, yes it is me using the card, not a fraudulent case, they still cancelled it! (No prizes for guessing which bank it was!!) Not saying it will happen to everyone, but probably wise to take a couple of cards if you have them and sufficient cash! that's really odd, i used mine the whole week i was there, and also the atm's - never a problem. Yeah I thought it was strange too - I think they might have even informed the bank first, and it still got cancelled. My friend doesn't have much luck when it comes to these things though!

I always tell the bank when I am going abroad, our cards have been cancelled many times.
