We went and stayed at Desert Palms Resort a couple of weekends ago. It is not so far from Dubai (down the road from Dragon Mart) but once you are inside the gates with the greenery, polo field etc it feel quite far away. Great time of the year to have a drink sitting outsite at night there. Nice modern style furnishings too. <em>edited by SJAussie on 07/03/2011</em>

Hey All, Thanks for your replies…I'm feeling settled in Dubai and making new friends which I'm really enjoying. I do miss my friends and family at home though. It has been a long hard 3 months sorting things out but I'm happy with life here now. I'm thinking about a short break, preferably in Dubai or somewhere within driving distance. Will be witrh DH and DD who is 2. Would like somewhere relaxing and nice site-seeing. Where can I find good deals? And which resorts are good within Dubai or driving distance? TIA.

Hi, would you be going on your own, as a couple? Budget, do you like relaxing, adventure etc etc. I would be careful going somewhere far for a break as you may come back to Dubai feeling more unsettled. Try exploring more of Dubai, Abu Dhabi etc. <em>edited by Hotpot on 06/03/2011</em>
