Well, of course they're not!

But apparently, certain 'gentlemen' in Saudi think they are ... :(

The demand follows an incident last month in which a man tried to force his way into the hotel room of a junior Cathay attendant, said Tsang Kwok Fung, general secretary of the Cathay Pacific Flight Attendants Union.

Other complaints have been made involving unwanted telephone calls to female staff also staying at the Marriott Hotel in Riyadh, he added.

Last month, Cathay switched its stopovers to Riyadh from the Gulf state of Bahrain because of political unrest that has swept across much of the region.

The union has now called for overnight stops to be moved to Dubai, part of the United Arab Emirates, but is yet to receive a "positive response" from management, Tsang said.

Cathay's female cabin crew have now refused to leave their hotel rooms while staying in the city.

It just infuriates me that ambassadors of a foreign airline -- which, really, is what the Cathay cabin crew are when they are in transit -- are subjected to this sort of behaviour; that some men think that they are easy game just because they are in a hotel without husbands or chaperones. I'm glad they spoke out though. And I do hope they are re-routed to a safer country. :( *Like* (with apologies to those who loathe *like* ;) ) You're so right WM...poor girls. I hope the airline does something to ensure their safety.

so much for traditional muslim values and traditions... some men are just a plague. have to say have not encountered this with Emirati men, more like other Gulf nations and of course Saudis. All the repression makes them go soft in the brain.

Why the h*77 would they choose Riyadh as a stopover city????????????????????? :\: They were forced to, given that their normal stop-over in Bahrain is currently considered too dangerous. Not their fault at all [but they do want to be re-routed to Dubai after what's been going on in Riyadh'>.

Izzy99 Yes, I remember it so well. Unfortunately, we couldn't unplug our phones because of on-call duties etc. Where were you based in KSA? I was in Jeddah at several different military hospitals.

Slighlty off the subject but can you beleive that a local boy approached me in KidZania asking me for s*x!!! I was watching my son through the glass doing his dentists job at the time. I was shocked & replied "What would you know about s*x" & he said "come with me" I then told him to go run along & play with his friends....****** cheek! He must have been about 12!!

Ugh - you have to wonder how some men were raised. Even here in the UAE, some men don't seem to understand "no" or "get the H away from me or my husband will hunt you down!". And pepper spray is illegal. Madness!
