Hello!!! Hoping anyone who lives or has lived in jumeirah islands can help me w some questions...

-Has the community center finally opened and if yes, what's in it? (Market, gym, etc)

- I know a lot has been said about Nakheel, but are the services being provided in general to a satisfactory level? (Garbage being collected? Lakes in good condition? Parks are clean?)

- What is the closest nursery to JI?

- Any issues with security?

- Family friendly? Is there a community feel and do neighbors know each other?

- Is there still a mosquito issue?

- Any other comments are welcome..

Thanks so much -).

Hi - we lived there for 3 years when it was first handed over so everyone that moved in moved in at the same time and there was a superb community and everything was new and very well maintained - Nakheel was also on a high...... Yes the community has finally opened and I'm meeting friends there this week so I can tell you what it's like after that. There are still big problems with the lakes - we never had a mosquitoe problem but I know many clusters there did and a friend who is still there says she still struggles with the mozzies. When I go there now you can see that it's not being maintained like it used to be and it looks overgrown but it's still a very nice place to live. the construction works each side are awful though. How sad that to get into such a lovely place is so awful the terrible roadworks around JLT on one side and then the awful roads still, after 3 years around the Meadows and the Springs. We moved to Arabian Ranches and it's beautifully maintained, has a much, much nicer community spirit and is easily accessible. since moving here we see far more of Dubai as we seem to be 20 minutes from all areas so far more convenient than being that end of town. Closest nursery would be Jebel Ali Nursery in the Hayya Club in Springs and the nursery by Spinneys town centre (can't remember the name of it). I was in Jumeirah Islands last week and I really did feel far away compared to where we are now. Do your homework on JI though as some of the villas were being used as party villas a while ago and not sure if that's still happening - speak to neighbours if you can to get a feel for the community. Other really lovely communities are Victory Heights - I know lots of people living there with young children and they seem to really love being there - the villas are beautiful. the villa - the villas there are lovely and a nice community spirit as people are all moving in at the same time - it's being landscaped at the moment and every time I go there it gets nicer and nicer. Hope that helps you.....
