After moving to AD from Dubai last summer for a job, I am now considering moving back and commuting with a few colleagues who are currently driving daily too. So I am just trying to work out what would be the best location and wondering where all you other AD commuters live? And how long it takes from there? I work on the corniche, but will take the Yas higway which is very easy. My budget will be around 150k, so I am thinking something like Garden View Villas might be a good option for a villa...

Yeah they are fine with it, so many people in the office do it, and I can choose allowance or accommodation and they will just switch it. I would not move until the summer anyway so technically my one year 'lease' would be up by then. I would quite like a villa, but will consider anywhere that is a convenient location. Marina does seem like it has the easiest access in and out. Thanks for your input. :)

hope u have checked with your company that first they will allow you to move out of company provided accommodation and also that you are allowed to live in dxb and work in ad. some companies will not allow you to drive that far has to be in the same emirate to provide you expenses etc.

are you specifically wanting a villa? If not, the dubai Marina is a great area to live for commuting to AD. You are on and off the highway in minutes and plenty to do in the marina. From Marina to Corniche is 1 hour - 1.5 max (depending on when you travel). DH commuted and we have lived in JLT and Marina.. both worked out good. Marina is also good if you are going with other commuters as its easy (and quick) to get in and out to pick you up.

Thanks, but the problem is not my accommodation as I have a gorgeous company provided apartment on the Corniche, it is just that I don't think AD is for me. I spend most of my weekends dashing around Dubai trying to fit everything and everyone into a weekend and then during the week it is just gym, tv, gym, tv, gym as there is nothing else to do and 99% of single females in AD are teachers and it's bit 'cliquey' so I hardly see anyone. I absolutely love my job in AD, so if I live in Dubai but work in AD that might be the best option for me. Thanks anyway.

Hi Bella UK, my DH works in AD and we live in Al Waha Villas which are behind Arabian Ranches. It's a good location for driving to AD. He works in town and it takes him about an hour and a half. We have a 3 bed villa, big garden and there is a pool and soon to be opened (hopefully!!) gym. There are play areas for children too and its nice and quiet and not too big. We pay 100k per annum. Garden View Villas are lovely but I understand that there is a big waiting list for them. HTH :)
