If its just PC to PC why not try Yahoo Messenger, its really clear and you can use the web cam as well... don't think thats banned here.

TKoshy, sorry but it is.... http://www.clydeco.com/knowledge/articles/voice-over-ip-in-the-uae.cfm Based on our interpretation of the Policy, the use of telecommunications services using VoIP (“VoIP Services”) in the UAE is prohibited, including: VoIP calls made using the public Internet, e.g. through services such as Skype, Net2Phone Voipcheap; PC-to-PC calls; PC-to-Phone calls; the use of IP handsets using the Internet to make national or international calls; the use of web-activated telephony, which uses VoIP to connect traditional phones (landline or mobile); the use of VoIP gateways and services that connect an office in the UAE to an office outside the UAE. There is an exception to the general prohibition – VoIP Services are permitted where: the VoIP Services are provided entirely within an entity’s Private Network, or by du or Etisalat (the licensed telecommunications providers in the UAE); and all such VoIP calls originate and terminate within the UAE. Ahh, ok, my mistake. Saw/read somewhere that pc to pc was ok just not pc to landlines/mobiles. Thanks for the info.

Well it's just another one of those things you can put in the box with label on that says 'it's illegal, but most people have/do it'. And I say the duopoly of the service providers are rubbish anyway, so anything that you can get and use for free instead of lining their greedy pockets - go for it. edited by Chocs01 on 14/03/2011

Downloaded it yesterday, no problems. The message you get happens most often when the file does not get downloaded in full/ is corrupted in some way. Try downloading again. Skype is not illegal if you're using it computer to computer, only when you use it to make calls to landlines/mobiles abroad. HTH

Skype is blocked here.....either have to take your laptop with you overseas and download it, move it over from your old laptop..... Or somehow get an offshore v*p*n
