The FCO has updated its travel advice to Bahrain. We recommend those British Nationals who do not have a pressing reason to remain to leave via Bahrain International Airport (BAH) on 17 March by commercial means.
Our advice to British Nationals in Bahrain remains to stay at home overnight of 16 / 17 March. We will update our Travel Advice before 0600 Bahrain time on 17 March.
For British Nationals wishing to leave Bahrain, the first option should remain commercial routes. Commercial flights continue to operate to and from Bahrain and the airport remains open and operating normally. British nationals with commercial flight bookings should continue to use these flights and you should continue to make reservation and ticketing arrangements with your airline as usual.
The UK government is chartering planes to supplement commercially available options. These will be available to assist the departure of British nationals from Bahrain to Dubai on 17 March. If you wish to leave and cannot secure tickets for a commercial flight, you can register your interest in using this route to leave Bahrain by calling +44 20 7008 5900.
There will be a charge of up to £260 per person for this flight. These are supplementary flights to support the commercial flight capacity provided by airlines.
