i got my plastic plunger thing in ACE. it was very effective recently. Have decided i cannot entertain a bin, but have reduced the measure from flag sized handfuls to a few sheets, and make use of the sprayer.... very refreshing... :-) and i have worked out that it doesnt flood the floor (like in public loo's) so i conclude that people must be showering with it when they are out in the malls! Perhaps they are trying to save money on their own home water bill :-P

Sorry, I went off to bed. Ummm...oops!!! Yes, I did tip the drain cleaner down the toilet. It wasn't the usual Draino stuff though, I'm sure it had instructions for use on toilets...eek, I sure hope so. But yes, I'm sure Pepsi would work the same way. Did u have any luck OP? Or are you holding it all in till you hit the mall/gym/work this am? Hehehehe...

go to a small garashi store (usually next to mosques), you will pick one up for a few dirhams, any time

And defo do not throw any sanitary products down them! The U-bend in my apartment loo was so small, it used to block all the time, used to drive me spammy.

unfortunately the pipes here in dubai dont seem to be built for taking any type of toilet tissue. We have reduced ourselves to having a bin for the toilet tissue (yeah I know, yuck, but it's better than having a blocked toilet all the time)

Union Co-op Safa Park, but don't be fooled. They are not upstairs with the homewares/DIY stuff, but downstairs with the mops and buckets. I bought one last week.

Have you got Coke? Try pour a can of that in and leave it a while and see if it works! Worked a treat for ours after plunging for days and using 4 bottles of drain cleaner ;-) Doesn't it state on drain cleaner 'Not for use in toilets'! Might be why it didn't work, that and you're lucky it didn't explode in the pipe. No kidding. I remember reading a story out of the UK a few months back about a woman who did that and wound up with chemical burns on her face and lost an eye because of that.

......seriously need to buy one NOW, preferably shop somewhere near 'New Dubai' area. Grrr!!! I've even stopped using that 'posh loo roll (Lol!) Constantly asking and waiting for Facilities Management to unblock toilet. I think I just need to get a plunger.
