Hi, does anyone know where we can watch the Cricket World Cup finals matches that are coming up - near Meadows? A child-friendly restaurant perhaps? We just moved from SA and are disappointed not to be able to have watched any cricket and the OSN cricket package is so expensive, so we won't be signing up for it!

GO SA!!!

Fantastic, thanks for all the help :) We have tried watching online but it's so jumpy, maybe we need to try another site. We have a dish on our roof, I'll let DH know about the satellite channels and will ask for more info if I need it WaxMuch - appreciate the offer!

mk-in-dubai: we watch the world cup matches through an indian provider called Pehla TV - Premium Asian Entertainment. It's got mostly only Indian programming but covers all World Cup matches on their CricOne channel. They also have a english channel called Baby TV -- my 17mo DS loves it and a few English movie channels. If you're wondering if it's worth getting the connection just for the world cup you could try their 4 month package, watch the world cup and the kids can enjoy Baby TV for the rest of it -- Just a suggestion

PS. And I'm watching today's game on CricOne. Earlier in the series, when there were two games per day, the first match was on CricOne, then switched to TenSports while the second game commenced on CricOne. And for both channels, FirstNet was our 'provider'.

Well, we're in Meadows as well and du is our carrier, but we have OSN and FirstNet/Pehla [two dishes on the roof of our villa'> just so we can catch all the sport we need [eg rugby as well as cricket!'>. We've found, over the past couple of years, that a number of sports [eg Six Nations rugby, Wimbledon'> which WERE available on OSN have now been picked up by AD Sports and Al Jazeera, so we're glad we have the extra service. I can only imagine how difficult it must be with two LOs though, so if you're really caught short, perhaps watch the games online? There are loads of free streams available eg http://crictime.com/live-cricket-streaming.htm which work really well if your internet speed isn't too slow. ;) If you want me to find out more details of what we have on our roof [and our package'> let me know. What I do know is that we have wireless net, landline and two pay TV dishes and it sets us back 800dhs a month for the lot through du.

Thank you! If you dont mind me asking how are you managing to watch the WC? Who is your provider? We would love to watch at home especially as we have 2 toddlers, so any visits to the clubs are going to be short ones!! edited by mk-in-dubai on 23/03/2011

I didn't know the OSN cricket package actually delivered the World Cup; we get it via a different pay-TV service. Your closest -- to the Meadows -- would probably be The Locker Room at The Golden Tulip in Al Barsha [about 10 minutes from Meadows'>. I'm not sure it's child-friendly, but it's worth giving them a call and checking whether they are showing the match/es in the Sports Bar. http://www.goldentulipalbarsha.com/ Failing that, or maybe in the first instance, I would call the Montgomery [golf club'> in Emirates Hills, mere minutes from Meadows/Springs. They do have TV screens there, so ask if they are showing the games. Good luck. I couldn't live without my cricket but prefer to watch it at home. ;)
