thanks Sue & Metro I wanted to consult Dr Heather from Dubai Mall Medical Centre since she has got good reviews here. But since she is a naturopath and practices alternative medicine , i am having doubts if her consultation and the tests she prescribes will be covered. Anyone who consulted her got any experience to share regarding insurance coverage part?

Hi Diyas Sorry for the late reply. What happen is that my DD had rash all over her body, went to the pediatrician which he prescribed medicine, however she still had the rash, at the end the pediatrician ordered an allergy blood test for her, which required preapproval for insurance and it was rejected. So to answer you question, yes the consulation was covered, however the pediatrician is under the insurance network. So I don't know that is the case if the doctor is not under insurance network. And we didn't had this allergy test out of interest, it was prescribe by the doctor.

Hypothetically, I would have thought that if you need to see a doctor and following the consultation the doctor thinks allergy testing is necessary in order to make a diagnosis and prescribe treatment, then you should be covered by insurers. There is a difference between this and choosing to have it done out of curiosity or interest.

My DD did an allergy (blood) test and it wasn't covered by ALICO. Not sure about BUPA, better to phone them to ask.
