There is a great wooden toy shop next to Cite des Enfants in MCC - probably is Cilek but never noticed the name as am usually trying to get my DD past the shop without us going in as she loves the toys there so definitely a great recommendation! Favourite books of ours are anything that makes a noise from songs to sounds; Hungry Caterpillar; Flip the Flap books or Peek-a-Boo books (where they have to reveal something hidden); The House that Jack Built and Old Lady who Swallowed a Fly. DD also loves trains and cars so likes books with those too.

thank you for your suggestions BEG - where is Bookworm shop located? and Cilek - is that the one next to Cite Des Enfants? There's one in the Meadows town centre, and one next to park and shop umm suqiem There's a Cilek at Ibn Battuta mall and I think there is one in MCC too but I'm not sure where, I'm afraid. Sorry I was only replying to the Bookworm! should have specified

Forgot to say that Bookworm is a great bookstore that specialises in children's literature.

I agree with other posters that 2 is too young to get the most out of Kidszania or Cite des Enfants. A trial lesson with Mygym or similiar would be age appropriate though. Great books for a 2 year old: - We're going on a bear hunt, Michael Rosen Dear zoo, Rod Campbell The very hungry caterpillar, Eric Carle Where the wild things are, Maurice Sendack The foot book, Dr Suess Dressing up is great fun for this age. H & M have some cool stuff - spiderman and fairies/butterflies too or the Early Learning Centre. I don't know if it's convenient for you but Cilek have some traditional wooden toys that would be lovely for 2 year olds. Happy shopping!

What books? Where can I have good books for a 2 years old to encourage them to read? As for the Magic Planet - I like that idea but from what I know they don't go to Magic Planet a lot... am lost :(

Books are a great idea. My DD also loved jigsaws (age appropriate) and any kind of messy play like paints etc (parents might not appreciate quite so much). But if you did want to do the 'experience' thing you could buy Magic Planet card with money pre-loaded and am sure the other play centres do something similar. My parents load up my LO's card with some money whenever they visit so that she can enjoy treats from Grandparents all year round. We've never been to Kidzania as I think it's expensive considering DD is only 2 and am not sure how much she would enjoy but I guess if someone bought us the tickets then of course we would check it out!

Nope, it's too young for an 'experience' type present. Books, books and more books. For what you would spend to get into Kidzania for example, you could get a few beautiful books suitable for this age and beyond. Magrudys on the Beach Road have a fantastic kids books section.

Please do some brainstorming with me ... What does a 2yr old like and what can they benefit from such a present. I thought about kids entertainment such as KidZania or Cite des Enfant ... will a 2 years old actually fully enjoy such a thing? ideas please!
