The immigration lawyers helping with our residence visas told me that there is a special OmanAir visa flight that leaves DXB, zips over to Muscat and comes back in the same day, it is specifically for people needing visa runs. I won't be doing it until May so can't give any details though!

Ah, understand! Well I went to Oman yesterday, shame if I'd have known I could have taken you both with me and shown you what to do. If you are in same situation next month let me know and I can take you then. edited by Helen C on 30/03/2011 Wish you were around last month Helen C when i made a plee on here for a visa run ride! I had no passport for a few weeks and was desperate :(

I did the visa run to Oman with my teenage son every month since last September (he has his residency visa now). We spent lovely days lounging at the pool in Hata hotel and having lunch, it takes less then an hour to drive there, I would imagine taking a flight is far more stressful!

just something to beware of if you do do the flight to Doha that the arrivals terminal and departures are 2 seperate buildings and also when coming through immigration at doha which i presume you have to do you need a credit card and they charge 100 Riyals each. No idea if you get special dispensation because you are doing a visa run you would need to double check with the airline

I don't want to drive somewhere I've never been, to do a process I have never done, with my teenage daughter in tow. I would much rather pay a few hundred AED more to fly in and out - am quite familiar with flying!

Hello ladies, I didn't realise that this was an option as I have always driven to Oman and back for my visa renewal. Just checked on Fly Dubai and prices to Doha return are over 500dhs..... What are the benefits of doing this rather than just driving to Oman and paying the 200 fee.....am I missing something??

Yes, I did the Qatar run a few times while waiting for my residency visa to come through. Very easy. Ps. But if you spring for a few more $$$ you can fly a better class on an airline like Qatar Airways and spend the day relaxing in the lounge. ;) was just WAITING for you to post that! lol It was a very special time for me ... as you well know! :D

I am between Visas with employers so need to make a Visa run with my girl. I do not want to make the drive to Oman - prefer a quick round-trip flight somewhere. Can anyone please advise on the best route for this? TIA! :)
