They will give you a complete picture and peace of mind. Their website is www.steppingstonesca.com and telephone is 04-3635433 ask for Dr Nicolas, she is the owner but all staff are really helpful. They don't therapists working n Abu Dhabi but you could visit them monthly and get parent training?
Don't panic. Kids all develop at a very different rate. My son at 2years only said a few words and I was really worried. We went up to the British Institute Learning Development in Khalifa when he was just 3. We had a very basic assessment and they said his comprehension and understanding were above his age and he just needed to develop speech skills. I then stopped worrying and now, 2 years later he won't stop talking.
Remember some kids walk early, some kids talk late!
I'd recommend BILD for giving peace of mind..... 02 556 6078 if you want to contact them.
I agree with adoz, don't panic yet. Have in mind that boys are slower on the talking than the girls, they use only one part of the brain for that and it takes more time :) Also all kids are different, so yes, go for the tests, but don't panic and just wait a little.
Cheers and good luck :D
Hey there. I thought that my now 11 yo was Autistic. He didn't talk until he was 2, not even babble. He didn't smile at anyone no matter how much effort they put in. He was speechless and expressionless I swear until a bit after 2. Suddenly he started speaking full sentences really clearly. He was spelling out words he would see around the place at 3. Writing short notes to me as well. He was amazing. It was as though he was just waiting to get it all together before he made a sound at 2 and then whamo.... we couldn't shut him up. He has a really hi IQ but was just out of step with his speech and order of things. Like you I was getting concerned why he wasn't even babbling before 2. Had a few comments from people suggesting there may be a problem too.
Do get any tests done that will make you feel comfortable about your childs development but don't panic yet. He could just be waiting to get it all together before he starts blurting out full sentences and will from then on, drive you mad.
Good luck.
i believe the stars school is specifically for children with autism. If you feel that your child may be on the autism spectrum, you can still go to american center for an assessment.
the american center http://www.americancenteruae.com/ has a great speech pathologis Ms Alia there that can help. It is hard to tell with children this age what is hearing and speech and language, or something else. The American center will send your son for tests to rule in or out hearing as well. Good luck and know, you are not alone. the best thing to do is get some answers so it can help both you and your child to be successful. good luck
Hugs and kisses! I was told by the stars special needs center for kids. Heard anything about them?

Hey there, my son is 2 years and 3 months old, the thing is, I see he is a bright kid, picks up things easily and understand what we tell him, sings every cartoon song or nursery rhyme in his own babble lingo, loves running around playing with care, I can see he is a bright kid well he is a troublesome two too can't deny that, the issue is, he isn't speaking too much, just around 10 words all together he babbles a lot but no actual words, he doesn't go to nursery yet but we try almost everything at home, has books with colors all kinds of toys that speak, almost everything that helps kids in learning, but it doesn't seem to be working. I was recently asked by a doctor to see a speech therapist, I am considering that A LOT but I have been also advised to see an ENT if he has a hearing problem. HE also rejects solid foods, doesn't want to eat, automatically chokes on it, sometimes I think he just fakes it just doesn't want to chew, just rice or breads, stage two foods mostly, I have to be very creative to feed him. I haven't been so down in my life, I feel that sometimes it even maybe frustrates him when I see him pointing, trying to tell me what he wants. Anyone who has any experience with this, please please let me know how to go on about it, also I want to know which hospital would be best, I haven't been in Abu dhabi for long, just know about AL-Noor air port road Love the pediatrician there but it is too far for me, I 'd really appreciate if anyone gives me any idea about a good hospital here. I live by the Corniche.
