Can anyone recommend hotels to stay at in Bangkok which are close to good shopping and restaurants. Have no kids so childrens facilities are not important.

Thanks

We stayed at The Lebua.... All rooms are suites and are amazing. The location is great...Very central. The pool area was lovely but fairly small and wouldn't be great if you are stopping for a "sunbathing" type holiday. We only stayed overnight though so didn't use it. Do go on the river boat to The Grand Palace.... Its awesome... And some great bars and restaurants around it. Then get a tuk tuk back to the hotel. Enjoy... We did!

You can also try the Westin Grand. Grt location and right next to the Sky Train (Metro) for getting around and not getting stuck in traffic - as it is quite grid locked <em>edited by inga3 on 19/01/2011</em>

I always stay at Imm Fusion, about 55-70 US a night. It is lovely and great location! http://www.immhotel.com/fusion-home.html

I'd love some recommendations for some lower cost (budget?) hotels too. For a few adult males - no kids. Clean, safe, and central location would be perfect. Thanks!

We went there last year and stayed at Centara Grand. We loved it! It's linked to the Central WorldWorld Mall, sadly it was badly damaged due to the riots. It might have reopened now. A few minutes walk to the nearest train station and Siam Paragon mall. I did a little shopping but ate so much in Bangkok. Fabulous food! http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g293916-d850401-Reviews-Centara_Grand_at_CentralWorld-Bangkok.html

Have stayed at Hilton BKK, Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok, and The Sukhothai Bangkok. Would receomend all, just depends on how much you want to spend/how long you're staying. You must go for at least a drink at Vertigo in Baynan Tree... amazing!

When we went to Bangkok last year, we stayed at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit. Was an enjoyable stay with nearby shopping and restaurants.
