I have finally gotten around to ordering Uggs online. For those CHAVs or CHITs (CHAVs in training!) out there, the USA Uggs site is much cheaper than the UK site. Plenty of non CHAVs styles to choose from too. My 12 year old daughter has gone for the classic Ugg boots again and I myself have gone for some gorgeous biker boots, leather, waterproof, sheepskin lined boots that will keep my feet dry and warm. They look like they have a good grip on the soles which will be handy for catching my daughter when she slips over in hers!!! There are plenty of sites out there selling bargain priced boots but I assume are fake because the price is so low, I'm my opinion if you have a shop and ship account with Aramex go straight to www.uggaustralia.com site.

Had visitors here for half term from the UK and both bought Uggs in Karama for AED150. They said they will spray them with the waterproof spray. I bet they will be as warm as toast all winter and won't care what they look like. Teenage daughter wore hers on the plane at 6am this morning!

hi dottymum just copied this from the daily mail thought it might interest you [i'>[i'>[i'>Michael O'Neill, from the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists, says that though he'd much rather women wore them than high heels, Uggs do come with their dangers - because the foot is not very well supported. "I saw a young woman last week who had completely wrecked the boot at the back - the sole is a very soft material and it hadn't held her foot in position. "This can cause a lowering of the arch, which can cause tendon strain. Her sole had just worn through, edited by hinze57 on 02/11/2012

Poor old UGGS! Just to add my two pennyworth - in the UK Uggs are de rigueur for public school girls, worn with skinny jeans in winter, denim minis and black tights in Spring and even with denim shorts and bare legs in summer. And I'm certain I've seen both Zara Phillips and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge wearing them. I personally would not be parted from mine, not the tan ones, black ones, grey ones or purple ones! However, for the lady planning to wear them in Europe, they may be fashionable but they are not at all waterproof and the soles have no grip so they are lethal on snow - got the bruises to prove it in Switzerland a couple of years ago!

I would like to send my apologies to everyone for some of the things I wrote on this thread (as you can see I've deleted most) It's not an excuse for my behaviour but I've been bed bound for the last week & have become very bored & very very grumpy and I guess I was venting on here getting personal & taking things that people said personally. I really don't care what other people wear some of the clothes I wear I'm sure people would find questionable. For example my pink timberland boots very warm and very comfortable & great grip in the snow. I'm far from nasty I'm usually a very nice person Again my apologies Hope you all have a great weekend and dottymum have a great trip to Europe. Pink timberlands! I had a blue pair hehe hope you are feeling better soon :-) Thank you louisedvs. mmmm....blue would make a nice change :) I used to live in mine soooo comfy

I have never said that Uggs are all the rage in the UK (pls check my original post for clarification). I have lived most of my life in Beirut and the fashion there is probably somewhat different to that of the UK. CHAVS as described in the entertaining posts here don't exist, we'll not to my knowledge. People that wear Burberry in Lebanon for example are usually quite well to do where as in the UK I do believe they fall into the Chav category. So therefore not only is my 12 year old daughter a chav but my younger son must be a Lebanese male Chav too!!! Of course people are entitled to their opinions but back to my original post I only ever wanted to buy Uggs for a trip to Europe to keep my feet warm. Differently nationalities class things differently. Everyone is welcome to laugh, life is too short to throw insults around, Lets just all sit back and chill!!!! Or rather pop on some Ugg boots/slippers and keep warm!!!!!!!!!!!! Any other fashion tips ladies?????? If you had stated your Lebanese fashion roots in the OP perhaps no one would have commented. There are things worn in Beirut that other nations would deem strictly for behind bedroom doors. edited by BEDH on 01/11/2012

****** ****! I hardly ever use this forum any more - it's all gone a bit Dubai since I last did! From an Uggs wearer who doesn't judge anyone by what they wear and couldn't give a flying rat's bottom about what anyone thinks about what I wear!

With regards to sizing it depends on where you order them from. Australian sizes are different to UK and European sizes (not sure about sizing in America). For example in the UK I am a size 5.5/6, Europe size 39 and Australia size 8 - of course it sometimes depends on the make of the shoe, so buying on-line can be risky. I would like to echo tamieg1 when she said that UGGS are slippers to a vast majority of us aussies :) However if you want to wear them out go for it, just be warned she's also right when she says they don't have a lot of grip. If you are going to be wearing them when it is icy, be VERY careful. The winter of 2010/2011 in the UK was quite bad and there was a spate of people, wearing UGGS and footwear like them, having nasty falls sometimes even breaking legs and ankles. Case in point, a friend who I worked with was wearing her well loved UGGS when she broke her ankle crossing the car park to get into our building, even after she'd slipped badly in them the day before. Enjoy your lovely cosy UGGS and Europe

You know what...the Ugg ''Chav" thing has been done to death on the Dubai board...it's all old news and the insults start flying as soon as the ''Ugg" word is dared mentioned in a post...yes, Hinze, of course you are welcome to your opinion on a public forum...I like to give my opinion without personally attacking large groups of people though...the world would be so very boring if we all were to wear the same clothes/shoes/boots and making sweeping generalizations about people is a nasty trait to have..... edited by chizz on 31/10/2012

Check it out - http://hoox.files.wordpress.com/2006/08/chav1.jpg oh my goodness that's funny lol :) dottymum01 glad you could see the funny side:) edited by hinze57 on 30/10/2012 My neice wears them and she is hardly a chav! I guess it depends what part of the UK you come from Elaborate? We are from Chester which to most people means we are Scousers lol so are we branded chavs ;-)

[b'>Hinze57 replied: I'm sure there are just not myself or anyone I know and would not even think of wearing boots like that when there are so many other stylish boots to be found![/b'> Well then it's not just 'chavs and Z-list celebs' who wear them. And so what if 'ordinary' people want to wear them - it's their choice. The OP was only asking about the sizing, not a running commentary on suitability! edited by kimmc3 on 31/10/2012

I personally think and many would agree with me only chavs & Z list celebrities wear ugg boots. That's a ridiculous statement, as quite clearly there are many different types of people who wear them :\:

I love wearing Uggs in winter and don't really care what anyone else thinks, thanks...I would hardly call myself a chav either...each to their own and if they are comfortable, who am I to tell people what they should and shouldn't wear?!

Dear Ladies All i ever wanted was warm, dry feet! Thankfully my 12 year daughter is too young to be a CHAV according to the info generously supplied info by hinze57. Unfortunately on her school ski trip it was rather too cold to be dressed as described manner in the photo, it was a chilly minus 17 last Feb in Austria. Her feet were kept surprisingly warm and DRY in her Uggs as i had sprayed them with a waterproof spray. No doubt with the newly supplied info i can ensure that on this years tour of Europe to Switzerland, France and Italy she is decked out CHAV style with her newly styled CHAV mother in Uggs in tow!!! I shall however endeavour try not to disappoint and march around Lagoona mall CHAV style in my Uggs, along with my chav daughter in training, once they arrive here. No doubt that CHAVs are far and few between here in paradise!!! This thread has indeed made me giggle and has been an education for someone that only ever wanted warm and dry feet!! Keep those CHAV tips rolling in and i shall in my ignorance wear my slippers out!!! Many thanks to those kind ladies that supplied all the entertaining and educational info!!!!

DH grew up in Aus and he doesn't understand what the rage is about, as he used to wear them as school shoes as a kid, and he Certainly wasn't wearing them as a fashionista! Why did he wear slippers to school ?
