so sorry if icky topic, but I need to see a Gynae asap. And have never done it here.

I have Daman insurance and few places listed here like Franco Emirien hosp, Cosmesurge and Emirates Hosp, Lifeline, Corniche, Al Noor, Gulf Diagnostics, Al Corniche Womens Health Centre (sounds a good one), HealthPlus womens health centre, American European Medical Centre, etc sound OK, anyone had any experience of these and recommend anyone? Do I need to be referred or just turn up at the gynae dept?

and as an umarried female will I have trouble switching 'birth control' even tho its not for those reasons technically?

help is appreciated!

just to update all those that offered up Dr Sawson recommendations, she has been fab, I'm so pleased I changed. seriously dont bother with gulf diagnostics for gynae. I felt like a leper going as a single female and was given no advice whatsover. Dr Sawson was really thorough and listened to what I wanted. Agree Dr Sawson is great. I am seeing her and I can get an appointment really quick. Also the prices are not bad and there is parking!

thanks ladies, I've got follow up appt in few weeks and if dont like what she says I'm off to the other one. I dont care if I'm 'luckier than a local' to have a certain thing in place, its making me fat and spotty! the cure one sounds more like a well-woman clinic too which is much better, good that you get breast scans etc. worth taking advantage of as they dont start them til quite late in UK unless you have history. thanks! i have had a few smear tests here, but always been to sejourne at the gdc, but she left so then went to dr tank at the swedish med centre, did the usual things but then she examined your breasts too, not had that done before!

Busybee2 - Was your old gyn named Dr Nada Mohty Saksouk? She is the other one at Cure, but she used to be at Gulf Diagnostics. p.s. I miss seeing your input on the "other" board no the one at gulf diagnostic was sejourne. the one that i last used was dr tank at the swedish. r thank you about the other board, you noticed that i am not posting, this is because of the politics and i cannot be bothered with it. lol

Location: If you go out 32nd Street heading away from the Corniche, go to 11th Street and do a U-turn. Shortly before you get to 9th Street there is an ADNOC station on the right. (There is a sign for it but it's mostly covered by tree branches so very difficult to see. There is a sign for the Post Office. ) Turn right at the ADNOC station and then take the first left turn (there is a boys' school at the corner). It will be on the left side - Advanced Cure Diagnostic Center, but it might just say Cure on the building (I can't remember). There is street parking available. There is a map on their website www.cure.ae. I saw Dr Sawsan, there is also another female gynecologist. it does say cure on the front of the building.

great thanks, let me know how you get on. I booked to go to Gulf Diagnostics, which takes Daman too but have to pay 50dhs then 20% which was same as when I visited the same hospital for a chest infection. Is yours completely covered? I have blue card too. And do you mind me asking if your married? my friend had to pay despite insurance as shes not married!! i used to see the doc in gdc for smears but then she left so last time i went to dr tank at swedish med centre.

OK thats useful to know, I went to my appt yesterday and shes doing the same, some tests as its been 3 yrs since my last lot in the UK but not all the breast screening as well so thats interesting. I might try there too. I didnt really get what I hoped for yesterday and it cost me money, and will cost me more money when I go back inb 2 weeks. I'm determined not to have to wait until I go to UK in June. I do think it is slightly different if your married, mines a regional plan, im guessing your 'extended' means partner etc. Anyway, I might book and papt with them so thanks for the reply. Where was the centre? I"m sure ive seen it somewhere!

Not sure about Gynae's at those places you listed but would recommend Dr Tank at the Swedish Medical Clinic. She is a lovely German lady who is very European and patient focused from my experience.
