so you had a call to pick up a sick child, we all understand that but you should have just asked him to wait and left him some money or given him your number if that is what is required, he doesnt know that you will come back outside, he is only following his rules. in the end you had to walk to get another one which surely would have taken you more time. you also have to be careful what you write in a public forum as it can come back to haunt you. perhaps he didnt speak good english and didnt really understand the situation etc etc. i dont suppose its written down anywhere as they have enough written down on the windows as it is, but then there is a lot of "unwritten rules" here in abu dhabi that people do not know about, fact of life here. you can always ring transad up and order a cab, it would cost you an extra 5dhs 600 535353

Where in your original post did you mention a sick child? Your post sounded like a spoilt woman ranting, sorry!

If he was driving so badly then why on earth would you want to get back into his taxi. I wouldn't be offended by a taxi driver asking for payment rather than expecting him to trust a total stranger to come back. Also, whilst it may be only 8dhs to you, that is part of the amount he needs to make up each day, so isn't a tiny amount to him. Think you need to wind your neck in to be honest, you sound like the one in the wrong! You know what, now that you have said that, I just had a thought, you are so right. I, who was picking my son up from nursery, when I got a call from the reception that he was unwell and had to go to Al Noor right after, even after getting the taxi parked on the gate. And after letting the poor man go. I carried my toddler in my lap to almost a km to find a cab, because the nursery is wee off the main road, I should have have just apologized to him, he had all the right to "not ask but shout for 8 dhs" and not wait, even though he knew my last destination was Al Noor and that amount does mean a lot to him, but my son with a 40 fever could wait, because I make more money and I need to wind my neck. Thank you for the lesson, I needed that.
