Ladies, can I ask, if you worked in your home country and then were unable to when you moved to AD, how did you manage the transition? Did you find it difficult? Are there opportunities to volunteer? x if you have kids you will be busy with ferrying them around, if not there are lots of places to go for coffee mornings, jewellery stuff.... gym lots of things to do. you can volunteer, skmc make a wish operation smile animals feline friends k9 etc etc

Thanks for coming back to me so quickly, looks like I'm not going to be working then. Feel pretty despondent but I'm sure there will be an upside. Once again, thanks for your quick reply x u will just need to go to the hair places etc and see what is what.........but you cannot do it privately legally without the proper visa in place. this place is very different to the row.

Are there opportunities to volunteer? x Of course it'll be very difficult to cope with the sudden change. But as someone mentioned earlier that it's something illegal, unless you obtain relevant visa for your practice / profession. I'll reiterate that it's very important, like very very important to have a legal permit / visa for whatever you're doing or not doing. God forbid if in trouble due to noncompliance, expatriates end up in huge trouble. There are plenty of volunteering opportunities wrt social work. I'm not too sure if that's what you intend to ask? All the best for your relocation project!!

Hi, we thought we were off to Qatar but sunny Abu Dhabi it is! My husband is starting his new job in August and I am coming out to join him in October. I am a lash and brow specialist, I have a host of lovely clients here and absolutely love my job. From what I can gather, I don't think that it is going to be legal to work from home in AD, but would I be able to visit clients in their own homes, or is it just that I can't have my own business at all? I am very grateful for the opportunity to be with my husband, and live in a beautiful, exciting part of the world - but a part of me feels absolutely gutted that I may not be able to do something I love, something I have worked really hard to be good at. Apart from that, I may actually have to put my money where my mouth is and go to the gym if I don't have anything else to do, lol.... Any advice would be so appreciated, and I hope to meet lots of you in October. Take care, J x edited by Jac264 on 19/06/2014 nope illegal, everyone here who works must have a visa, and either you must work for a salon type of place or you get a freelance visa etc... many people do "work from home" but its illegal.
