| Last updated on 11 December 2017The Abu Dhabi government has officially announced the UAE public holidays dates for 2017. It's important to note that determining Islamic occasions, such as the beginning of Ramadan, is made by reference to the Hijri Calendar, which is based on the phases of the moon. Therefore, the exact dates of these Islamic holidays tend to vary every year and will only be confirmed by the local sighting of the moon.
The list shows that there will be 14 holidays this year. During these holidays, Public departments and instititutions as well as Federal ministries will be closed.
A public holiday in the UAE can be moved to the beginning or end of a week if it falls between two working days.
