Abu Dhabi scored "Very High" when it comes to health and infrastructure security in the Middle East

The UAE's capital has been named the Middle East's safest city in 2021 in a new study from the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), under The Economist magazine.
The Safe Cities Index 2021 report ranked 60 cities around the world, rating them through more than 70 separate indicators of urban safety, including crime rates, pollution, Covid-19 response, etc.
The indicators can be grouped under five categories of safety:
- Personal safety.
- Health.
- Infrastructure.
- Digital.
- Environmental security.
With Abu Dhabi receiving a 'Very High' score on infrastructure and health, it's a reflection of the emirate's effective ongoing response to the Covid-19 pandemic, thanks to the combined efforts of the Department of Health, Covid crisis response team, health workers, and the public.
Top 10 Safest Cities in the World for 2021
While Abu Dhabi topped as the safest city in the Middle East, the emirate ranked 31st globally. Below are the top 10 cities crowned under EIU's Safe Cities Index this year:
