Kind Acts by Traffic Police Across the UAE

Police in different parts of the UAE have been surprising motorists with good news lately. Considering there are stricter fines coming into effect in July, these acts were welcomed by many.

Abu Dhabi

If you’re a driver in Abu Dhabi and you received black points for a minor offence, we’ve got great news for you! The Abu Dhabi Police recently announced that drivers will have their black points removed, so that they can have a clean slate.

However, this offer doesn’t extend to serious offences.  This move comes as part of their initiative to contribute to the Year of Giving and promoting positivity and road safety.

Ras Al Khaimah

In Ras Al Khaimah (RAK), a police officer decided to take on a new method of promoting wearing seat belts. His inspiring initiative is very simple – a smile instead of a fine.

Non-compliant drivers who were stopped by First Sergeant Samir Abdullah Al Hababi and should have received a fine were surprised that he simply smiled and gave them a polite warning.

The officer was filmed wearing an imitation of a seat belt and urging drivers to follow the law. He was honoured for his initiative of taking on this “Buckle-up and Smile” campaign.

The campaign is meant as a way to encourage drivers to wear their seat belts in a friendly manner and motorists seemed quite happy to comply.

Dubai

Good driving behaviour is also being rewarded by the Dubai Police. Motorists who haven’t incurred any fines for a year might be stopped by the police for an unusual reason: vouchers and prizes!

This is a part of a white points system in which drivers with clean driving records are randomly picked and rewarded on the spot.

There are about 2,000 winners chosen by the police. Two of those winners will be the luckiest ones and receive a car if their name is picked during a draw.

Sharjah

A similar initiative took place in Sharjah as well. The Sharjah Police have stopped drivers with clean driving records and handed them a certificate as well as a prize of Dh1,000 each.

The campaign is meant to encourage drivers to follow the traffic laws. It also educates people on the importance of road safety.
