The free Dubai taxi rides are valid until Thursday, February 18
Need a lift? From January 26 until February 18, 2021, Dubai residents who are intending to take a Covid-19 vaccine can avail a free ride from select vaccination centres to their destination of choice.
Hala (Dubai Taxi), a joint service between Careem and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), allows users to book Dubai taxis at the same travel costs of a regular street-hailed cab.
According to Hala, the free taxi rides are part of "its drive to support the city and those who wish to participate in the vaccination programme."
"We want to make sure we are doing all we can to show our commitment to supporting our city at crucial times by giving back to our riders and community," said Clemence Dutertre, CEO of Hala.
Dutertre added: "We hope that for those who wish to take the vaccine, this initiative makes doing so a little bit easier with our safe and simple service provided for free on their way home."

The offer is only valid for commuters requiring a ride from listed health centres in Dubai.

- Hor Al Anz Health Centre
- Al Qusais Health Centre
- Zabeel Primary Health Care Centre

- Al Barsha Primary Health Care Centre

The ExpatWoman team tested it:
"Bottom line? The code for the free taxi ride works.
It doesn't work when you're going to one of the vaccination centres, but it does work if you catch a ride leaving the centre.
I booked my Hala taxi ride on the app from Al Ittihad Health Centre after I received my second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. The ride charged me AED 20, but the app will return your money as free credit for your next taxi ride - so don't be surprised if the driver charges you."
