I've only found one so far in Satwa, and they are asking for 450aed which is pretty expensive, especially as it isn't a great brand.

Has anyone seen one elsewhere?

Hello Ladies, I know this post is old but I am looking to buy the same thing_ an adjustable dressform for sewing projects_ and i came across this blog which seems to be quite old but thought perhaps its still alive? anyone can guide me to where I can buy a good quality but not too expensive adjustable dressform? I keep reading Satwa here and there but I cannot seem to find the name of the store? Thanks :) Ray

I never buy clothes. I don't want to look like other people and it is difficult to find something to fit as I am a combination of about 3 different sizes. I wanted the form to try my hand at the draping method to design my own clothes instead of using the flat pattern making method. I never thought it could be so easy to make patterns by the draping method. The investment was really worthwhile. Now the material shops are making even more money out of me.

Don't worry Lettie, we've all paid over the odds for things at times, especially when we really needed them. I'm sure the shopkeepers see our eyes light up when we spot something we've been searching for! Anyway, you are bound to save money in the long run with it if you buy less ready made clothes.

...And I was pleased to pay Aed 50 less than what the other shops quoted me for. It was a very frustrating process. When I asked for adjustable they said they have, just to show me the non-adjustable. Then they tried to sell me a big size while looking me up an down and tried to convince me I should buy the size 16-22(?) instead of the smallest one. I was so happy just to get one in the end that I didn't even bothered to get a better price. I wish I saw the one you saw for Aed 95!

Lettie, you'd better not read this:) Jesspm, I'd bought some non-adjustable ones in Dragonmart for 75dh so when I saw one in Satwa I asked was it the same price. The guy said I could have it for 95dh. I can't remember the name of the shop but it's up from Fida and the roundabout towards Jumeriah. The shop has sewing machines out the front and a few feather boas(though all the shops there seem to have boas!). I'm not sure if the one I saw was the same quality as the one you've been quoted for: basically it was a beigey colour mannequin with knobs on the torso, so I'm only assuming it was the same sort of thing. I've not seen the adjustable ones in Dragonmart.

After paying AED 400 at Al Nooras Trading Company in Satwa for an adjustable dressmaker's dummy I saw a few in the haberdashery souq in Deira. I didn't ask about the price because I was too worried that I would have to kick myself if it is much cheaper. My husband was very upset with me for not bargaining for a better price before I bought mine. Maybe you can look in Deira and compare prices or otherwise, bargain a bit in Satwa.
