The attesting at the SA consultate takes about 2 minutes so long as there is no queue. SA's get a priority service too!

thanks ladies, consensus seems to be that attestation of the marriage certificate is needed for obtaining the residence visa in Dubai, despite the DNRD not specifying that's the case... Can anyone recommend an agency for getting this done quickly (originals will come from UK, to be done in SA then returned to Dubai), and how long does it take if you do it yourself? Thanks again...

Yes it does need attesting in SA if she is going to be under her husbands sponsorship. Agree.

Rule Number 1 in Dubai - get absolutely everything attested if it doesn't originate in from UAE!

I would definitly do it just in case, because without it, it could mean they are not legally married in the UAE.

Hi there. My husband and i are South African and we got married in Dubai. The rules in UAE change by the second, its better to take the original marriage certificate to the south african consulate general in Dubai, they will attest it. They will do it immediatly for them.

Hello there Can anyone offer me any current advice? My friends are South African, living in UK, who are shortly (like next week) moving over to Dubai. They are going to apply for residence visas via the husband's employer etc etc. However, can anyone advise whether their marriage certificate needs to be attested in SA? When we had ours done we had to get our UK mariage certificate attested by the British home office in Milton Keynes, and the UAE consulate in London, but we thought this might be because ours were for Sharjah visas. His company haven't mentioned the need for the attestation, but on the DNRD website it doesn't list this as a requirement, but advice is to have it done anyway. Any experiences, ladies? Thanks!
