I was having problems with nursing since my little ones birth and I tried everything on earth including taking the lactare tablets..(I was prescribed this tablet by a very uninformed doctor) Though they are very effective, my son has a tongue tie that wont lwt him nurse no matter how hard i try.. So i have unopened and unused Lactare tablets.. If anybody needs them please let me know.. I'll be happy to give it to someone who needs them..

PS: Only ask for this if your doctor has prescribed it!

Ties unfortunately do not correct themselves, though babies may develop compensations as they grow. Type 2 just refers to the location of the tie (type 2 will be visible and come towards the front of the mouth) and not the severity of the tie or the extent to which function is impaired. Re. age, it really is easier earlier on when baby is a few months old; there are three types of revision (scissors, radiofrequency and laser) available in Dubai, and some babies even sleep through the procedure! Later in life, most practitioners require general anaesthetic for release (though more complex, it is possible and I know of adults who have chosen to have it done). It must be hard if the rest of your family are against revision, but if you feel strongly about it perhaps it would help to share with them information on why ties affect more than just feeding (although in the UK that is considered a major factor for release), e.g. colic in babies, digestion, tension headaches, dentition, speech, and more? Let me know if you'd like some links to articles. Best of luck to you and your little one xx

Yes I was quite apprehensive at first.. But then thought its for the best.. But then my mom and my Mother-in-law dont want us to do it now.. Saying he's too young :/ And besides our family has a history of never having enough milk, so everyone unanimously (excluding me) voted to have it done after hes a little older (if it doesn't correct itself.. The LC said it was only a type 2 tongue tie)

Sorry to hear you've been having problems. Have you looked into having your baby's tie released? Ties can cause problems not only with feeding but also other areas even into adulthood, and is much easier to release as a baby than when older. Give us a shout if you'd like signposting to tongue-tie practitioners in Dubai xx
