Hi - does anyone know which banks offer this service for "normal" people. I bank with NBD and when I asked them over the weekend they said they only offer it to those with AED 1m in their account!!! Who keeps AED1m in their bank account?!? I'm not looking for a big one - just to put away some jewellery that I don't wear. I don't want to keep a safe in the house as I don't have the space for it.

Cbd offers this service to individuals and you don't need to keep millions in the bank. All you need to do is open a current account with them (if you are not working, then open it in your husband's name)... Then the safety deposit box would be attached to that bank account and it could be a joint box. Dubai islamic bank also offer this service but only to emiratis. So cbd is your best bet if you are not an emirati. Enquire on phone in which branches they have availability of box and then take it from there.
