Beware of paid parking near schools
Watch out for traffic wardens first thing in the morning.
Unfortunately Dubai Government are becoming more 'proactive' at fining people for parking in paid car parks... even a couple of minutes into the chargeable period.
Until today, a lot of parents at my dd's school (Aflec) used to park just outside the school. Although officially this was chargeable from 0800, people would park at around 0755 just and return to their cars at around 0810. In over 2 years, the RTA turned a blind eye until around 0830 as they knew it was outside a school.
But this has now changed and this morning I spotted a warden at 0805! He must have fined a lot of parents.
I think I will just have to set off a bit earlier now to get a spot inside the school grounds and avoid having to pay.
It may be less of an issue for parents who send their kids to schools with an earlier start time, but forewarned is forearmed.
