Hey Kacey,
In the past 6 months i have gone from blonde to light/medium brown to dark auburn (done today!) and i absolutely love it! To be honest this last step was decided over night and having read a few blogs on what colour suits what skin tone / eye colour i just thought ****** it and its turned out for the better!
I use to be a loyal Salon Ink girl but since it started costing 800-1000 AED just for a cut and half head of highlights i decided to go back to DYI jobs and thank-fully its all turned out okay. Plus going darker is alot cheaper to maintain and to be honest i think my hair looks alot healthier. My natural colour is somewhere in the medium-light brown range.
I say go for it - you'll feel like a new woman!!
Thanks loads Kylie2810. Would love some help in making my decison so appreciate your offer! I'll scour facebook for a picture that shows me in my true light (cringe).
If you could send over the before and afters that would be fab - kaceyc 82 at g mail dot com
Thanks so much X
Kacey C, to colour or not to colour also should depend on your colouring, whether your skin is cool or warm and also if you are a natural blonde or more mousy. That was a fear of mine, I didnt want to go gradually with colour as I didnt want a boring brown in between colour. I am all or nothing kinda gal! If you drop me your email address I can show you some before and afters to give you an idea of the change and if you have a pic I can give you my honest opinion on if it would suit (I am researching colour therapy at the moment and everyones best colours to wear, their hair, make up etc based on skin tone and eye colour) - my latest project :)
i did it and hated it! i think it lasted as long as i had to wait for the next hair appointment. i agree with the ladies on the thread, try going gradually
Right, I'm in a dilemma....
Any of you ladies ever gone from very blonde to very dark hair overnight? Did you like it? If not, how easy is it to go back to blonde, taking into consideration I have very long hair and I don't want to have to cut it!
I was you a few years ago. Very blonde and went dark overnight. I loved it, it was a great change as I'd been blonde all my life. Have recently gone back to blonde and honestly it was very easy. Has not affected the quality of my hair one little bit and my hair is long. I think it depends on how healthy your hair is and how good your hairdresser is. Good luck!!!
Kylie2840 (or whatever it is) on here did it - I like her hair both ways
haha. Thanks madcow. Kacey C, it is a big change however if you feel you need one then go for it! Its a big step and can be hard on your hair but mine is a lot healthier now that it is dark and much cheaper to maintain. I was blonde for so long so was ready for a big change but in saying that I still miss blonde sometimes. I am likely to go back to it at one point (as most do, this is true!) however will do so gradually, i.e. a few caramel highlights here and there and eventually lighter again. I wouldnt recommend blonde to dark and blonde again right away as this is dangerous hair falling out and snapping off territory! even a couple of my hairs broke off when going dark.
To physically go darker you will need to have a professional to it (duh) and they may have to 'fill' the colour first i.e. with a red dye or something in order for the darker shade to take. The first time my dark colour faded a lot but after a few more colourings it has absorbed now. I had to learn how to apply makle up differently and I felt really washed out until I got my eye brows and lashes tinted!
Be prepared for other things as well, like my DH kept giving me strange looks and didnt realise how it affected him as he felt he had some other woman in his bed!! haha. Plus friends have given mixed responses, love prefer my blonde others dark. Can send pics if you really want!! (Dont want to put you off!)
But go for it if you are after a changer a good idea of how you will look try www.taaz.com. You can upload your pic and try whatever style and colour you like, lots of fun! and quite realistic too.
I did the dark brown thing last year for a few months, but it got too dark and I got bored with it - so started feeding blonde highlights through it! There is a way back, just make sure you have a good hairdresser - who you can talk it through with!
I recommend that you do it in stages that way you and those around you will get used to your darker hue gradually.
Also remember that when you are making a strong change you need to consider your eyebrows, makeup and clothing colours too.
both can work - but if you LOVE being blonde - beware. it can take a while to get your hair back from brown to properly blonde, and can ruin your hair in the process. i speak from experience!
There is no thread that I know of, I just happen to know her personally and have seen the before and afters. You could always go a little darker, and then a little more until you are happy

Ooh is there a thread on this? Pictures?
Personally do you think blonde or brunette is best?? (dangerous question I know)

Quite hard to get back to blonde and not good for your hair.... think the wig suggestion is a good one!
Saying that, I know many blondes who went brunette and loved it for a few years, then went back blonde
Try a wig on first?
Well I was actually really sad and did one of those virtual hair make-over things and the colour I liked was really dark, virtually black. This is so far from what I am now I am chicken to go for it! I've always been a blonde so I'm worried I won't get used to it?!
