Has anyone had botox injections here? Thinking about it as a friend has them bi yearly in the UK to her forehead only, with great results. Relaxed and line free but still has movement. Can anyone recommend a clinic in Dubai and how much does it cost?

LMAO here!!!! As a nurse I wet my pants when I read the labia folds comment. I really thought it was going to go into vaginal rejuvination surgery and I thought I really have started something here. :) For the record, I have had botox for around 4 years now. I'm pretty wrinkle free (great skin genes from my mother) but what I had a problem with is that I lift my eye brows when I'm talking, in fact pretty much all day no matter what I'm doing! :) I have had deep frown lines here since my early 20's. I get botox to freeze the area. I actually stop raising my eye brows for about 4-6 months. I love it, the results are fantastic. I get a smooth looking forhead and feel great and hate it when it starts to wear off. I've been very lucky in that my friend, who runs a practice for botox back home, has been doing mine for years so, since I have been home for almost a year, I feel terrible. When I see myself in the mirror it's the first thing I see and it looks awful. I am very reluctnat to go to another practitioner but feel I need bite the bullet and go, as not only does it look bad, I know I'm just making the deep lines worse by not giving my forehead a rest once a year.

Thank you for all the info Buy me a Pony! What would you recommend for labia folds? That area from the corners of your mouth up to the sides of your nose? *ahem*... Sophia... *clears throat* - so I just googled "labia folds" to check that we are talking about the same part of the face. I wanted to let you know that what you want to talk about with the Cosmetic Dr is "Nasal Labial Folds". If you talk about the other, you will end up with a very different outcome. ;) Pepps - the pictures are interesting, aren't they? And honestly, if we're talking about me, I'd do the whole lot, then get a (.)(.) lift. But I'd need to lose a heap of weight first *sigh*. And the problem is, it's a lot of $$$ and most of it's not permanent.

No problem. Whoa!!! I thought we were about to go x-rated there and then realised you must use different terminology for what we in Australia call marionette or accordian lines, LOL. I think you would probably need a dermal filler for those. But I am no expert. Your best bet is to get a referral to a clinic that is trusted (via a friend or someone on here), go in for a consultation and then list your priorities and get a quote. I have a mate who is a Dr and left her general practice to open up a non-invasive cosmetic medicine practice. She has a great website and facebook page with a lot of information and photo's so you can see what she's talking about. She even has clients who visit from the middle east every few months for top up treatments! Anyway, reading up on it and understanding what chemicals are used for what would be a valuable first step before the consultation. I know this is a thread about botox, however- has anyone had a peel as an alternative? I don't think a peel would be an alternative. They both do different things. I have had peels - they basically strip the dead or dying skin from the surface of your face leaving it smoother and perhaps a little tighter (at least for a while). If you get them regularly, after a certain amount of time they can increase the percentage of acid in the peel making it stronger. Ultimately I think it would diminish surface scars from acne or pimples etc. But a peel is not going to stop you getting frown marks between your eyes. Botox, on the other hand, stops certain muscles from working. So it is all about diminishing wrinkles caused by repetition of certain facial expressions. Once those muscles relax, I think the lines that are there might diminish to a degree but the benefit comes from the fact that it would stop you making those movements hence stop the lines getting worse as you age. But it would only have this effect while you continue to get it injected, which is approximately every 3 months. And someone mentioned getting botox around their mouth... my opinion (may be wrong) if you have those little lines around your mouth from smoking, I don't think Botox would help (someone correct me if wrong). I think you would have to get a filler for them. Something like Restalyne, for example, would do the trick. I have a friend who gets restalyne in her frown lines to plump them up but it doesn't stop her frowning. So the problem is still there, it's just the symptom (ie the line) is being masked - she can still frown.

I know this is a thread about botox, however- has anyone had a peel as an alternative? I heard if you use a mild Retin A cream (of course sunscreen during the day) then get a peel a month later. I have never had a peel or juvaderm but has anyone on here tried this as an alternative?

Hi, it really depends on the doctor and his/her technique and of course - on the product used. do it with a very good experienced doctor (dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon). By the way - to give it a try - American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery Hospital are now having an offer thru cobone.com website where you do forehead and around the eyes botox (Allergan one) for AED 699 only. It is a deal actually, as the regular price for same would dbe double at most places in Dubai. But you should get this voucher thing and present it there. And the Botox is done by their cosmetic surgeon Dr. Salivaras. Here is the link to the offer: http://www.cobone.com/deals/dubai/botoxDXBside/658 the hospital number is: 04 4237600 in all cases - do it in a well known licensed place, i always will recommend Dubai Healthcare City facilites as the quality of any clinic/hospital there is times higher than any other place outside of the free zone - that i think due to the tough regulations they have to abide by in order to get licensed. Ladies beware.... if something seems too cheap it probably is, there are different grades of Botox, so what may seem like a bargain at the time may last a month to 6 weeks... a friend of a friend had to take steroids for a week after her face hideously swelled after her last round of botox injections at a clinic in Dubai. I know Dr. Mauritzio Viel of the London Centre for Aesthetic Surgery only uses the top brands of both Botox and Diaspora. everyone i know goes to dr ahmed at dubai cosmetic surgery on al wasl. 04 348 5575. 750 dh maximum for forehead and crows feet. great results. when you've been going for a while and you're a long-standing client he gives you a discount.

Thanks guys, I knew it would cause controversy this thread. :) I have a friend back home who's a nurse and does her own botox at home as she gets the injections from her friend who has a clinic! (ps the vial costs £30 to buy which does 4 areas, interesting huh? ) Thanks for the advice basilgarden, unfortunately I'm not looking to delay age, I am looking to stop lifting my eyebrows the whole day and have my head look like the M1!

Dr Maria at Aesthetica Clinic is great for all sorts of anti-aging treatments, including Botox - http://www.aestheticaclinic.com basilgarden, your tip may help but it's not going to get rid of wrinkles which are already there (unfortunately!)

I have heard a lot of good things about Dr Hoshy at the Dental Spa, I know 3 people who have had botox there and they look good - very natural looking. I have also seen posters on here recommend him.
