Just wondered how you'd got on with the assessments at The Brain & Learning Centre recently? Do you think it was of value and are you following on with their recommendations?

Hi emlsnre, Sorry it has taken me so long to reply, was offline for a few days and missed your post. Luckily a friend had spotted it and mentioned it to me the other day. DS has now been going to The Brain and Learning for five weeks. Attending for one hour after school five days a week has taken a bit of organisation but we are now in full swing and it has been worth all the effort. He is loving it and can't wait to get there. So far the biggest change I have seen in him is his confidence - he now has some!! Before he was reluctant to try anything new but now he seems to be up for anything. His teacher at school has noticed changes in him as well (she didn't know he was doing the programme when she mentioned these changes to me). She said that his attention and concentration were much better and because of this he is doing better in class. She also mentioned his increased confidence and that he seems to be a much happier boy. He is also finishing his homework a lot faster and doesn't seem to need me at his side for the whole time he is doing it. I am delighted with DS's progress so far. The assessment was well worth the Dhs 200 as it gave us information on both DS's strengths and weaknesses and it was good for him (and us) to see that although he struggles at school, in some areas he is above average for his age. Check out their website: www.thebrainandlearning.com and the telephone no. to call for an assessment is 04 453 4170. I would definitely recommend it. The Centre is busy, but I think there may be one or two places still available. Good luck!
