As long as the camp is quite big and has a lot of activities for the kids, 9 and 3, it does not matter how far out, but we will be flying out from Rome or Milan. Any help is appreciated. Been camping in the South of France many times and the kids love it but wanted to try somewhere different.
there is a very good and well equipped camp site on the out skirts of Rome and it's very easy to just train in to do your visiting. Stayed there a week some years ago, but pretty sure can dig up some info for you, will post back.
It's called Camping Flaminio if thats any help, theres another one called Seven Hills, but thats a trek to get to center from

Whereas I know that camping is a big thing in France and Spain and even for some reason in the colder climes of the UK, I've no idea if the Italians make provision for it. I can ask elsewhere if you would like?
