Hi.

We are thinking of moving to Damac serviced apts in Jebal ali but have been told that the AC bills are through the roof (Over 1000 dhs per month) and there is also a "beautification" charge by Dubai government of AED 2000 per month...;-(

Can anyone confirm this for us ?

TIA

Hello, We didn't receive any " beautification " charge until now and don't even heard about this. But as the things are crazy here you never now. I' am just curious how this " beautification " fee is...., they receive a separate invoice or it's included in one of their bills? 2k per month it's ridiculous. The housing fee that we are paying it's included in the DEWA bill and it's 3 % of your annual rent divided in 12 month and added to the water and electricity bill ( DEWA) but it's far away from 2k. Housing fee is 5% not 3% unless you get a discount ??

Thanks Lavi This is very helpful. Do you also pay housing fees as my friend who lives on the 15th floor pays over 2k housing (he calls it beautification) ;-)

Hello, Me and my husband , we are living in Suburbia. Unfortunately even if the price of the rent is attractive , it's only a strategy to pay hiden costs once you sign the contract. We are in the same situation...., newbies in Dubai ...., nobody told us about these possible traps.., and we end up with a bill of 4500aed capacity charge that we have to pay in 9 months since we have moved in the flat apart of the others bills ( diwa, gas, etc ) . If you decide to move in , don't open the account for the AC at LOGIC Utilities, once it will be on your name you will be forced to pay AC and capacity charge even if you don't use de AC. The owner should pay half of this capacity charge monthly, but once is under your name they don't care and you are good to pay it. In case you will refuse to open the account to LOGIC for using the AC, probably the owner will force you to leave the flat. We are very disappointed and unfortunately DAMAC pointed LOAMS Utilities to manage this location and they are even worst. Imagine we received a letter from them that they have some dues since 2013 regarding the capacity charge and they need to recover it. So...., we are renting the flat since dec. 2015 and we are forced to pay their dues that's why the capacity charge is so high. A lot of abuse...... Sorry if I disappointed you , but in our situation we wanted someone to warn us all these things before to move in , but nobody do that.. :(
